【Vision】How do restaurants attract guests?
4 different restaurant designs that will make your business better!
Nowadays, there are more and more restaurants, and the competition in the F&B industry is getting bigger and bigger. Part of the reason is that the proportion of people eating out is getting higher and higher, and eating out for three times a day has become a daily routine. On the other hand, takeaway is becoming more popular, and many people find it too tedious to cook and wash the dishes. It's so convenient to have your meal delivered to you in just a few clicks on your mobile phone. So everyone see the business opportunity and try to start a restaurant business, but with so much competition, how could the restaurant survive? Is there nothing in common with the restaurants that consumers consistently choose?
After research and observation, it was found that vision, taste, hearing and the name of the restaurant, are the main four elements to make a restaurant has good business, and attract a lot of guests to come everyday. Moreover, the four elements are closely linked up to each other, and changes in one element will affect the others.
To make it easier for you to understand the four elements, we have made the following short videos:
Vision is the most perceptible element. When customers see the restaurant's entrance and everything inside, visual cues continuously provide information, forming their first impression of the restaurant. Furthermore, even the visual appeal of neighboring dining establishments can impact the foot traffic of your own restaurant. Therefore, the "visual" experience a restaurant offers to its customers is of utmost importance. Today, I will discuss how to create a restaurant that customers will consistently choose, with a focus on the visual aspect:
Restaurant Design: Decor that Speaks for Itself
To ensure that customers can immediately discern the type of cuisine the restaurant offers just by looking at the entrance, consider the following examples: A Japanese-style sushi restaurant can hang a traditional Japanese curtain at the entrance; a Korean BBQ restaurant can use Korean characters for the name and signage and display pictures of delicious Korean BBQ dishes. If customers cannot immediately determine what type of cuisine your restaurant offers at first glance, they may be hesitant to try it out because they don't know what the restaurant serves.
Color Scheme
When decorating a restaurant, the color scheme is also of utmost importance. Once you have determined the restaurant's theme and style, you can use lighting, tables, tableware, and decoration colors to create the desired ambiance. Consider the target customer base as well; for a younger audience, opt for attractive and unique color combinations that may entice customers to visit the restaurant specifically for the aesthetics, even taking photos for free promotion. Additionally, ensure that the employees' uniforms match the restaurant's color scheme to create a more cohesive and comfortable atmosphere.
Decorative Arrangements
Decorative arrangements can bring life and dimension to the restaurant ambiance. By placing decorations that align with the restaurant's style, you can enhance its overall theme and atmosphere. For instance, a western-style restaurant may choose artworks and paintings to create a cultural and artistic ambiance. A milk tea and cake shop, on the other hand, can opt for elements like plants, flowers, clouds, and rainbows to establish a cute and natural atmosphere. Eye-catching decorations will attract customers who specifically visit the restaurant for these arrangements, and they may even take photos, providing the restaurant with free promotion.
Observing and Analyzing Neighbor Restaurants' Pricing
The pricing of neighboring restaurants is a crucial visual perception for customers. They often use menu prices as a determining factor in selecting a restaurant. If a restaurant’s prices exceed their expectations, they may even refrain from trying it. Therefore, it is essential to analyze the pricing to understand the approximate spending habits and preferences of customers in the area. Utilizing this data, you can design menu prices that remain competitive and reasonable, ensuring that you do not lose competitiveness due to unreasonable pricing (if you wish to learn more about pricing strategies, you can click here).
Restaurant Hygiene
Ensuring good restaurant hygiene is the most basic aspect, and I want to emphasize the cleanliness of the restaurant restroom. The cleanliness of the restroom greatly impacts customers' visual experience, and a clean restroom can significantly enhance their overall impression of the restaurant.
Thoughtful visual design is the first step in attracting customers, and it is crucial in the highly competitive food and beverage industry. Choosing a captivating restaurant name is also part of visual design and plays a key role in attracting customers. In the next installment, I will discuss how to come up with an appealing restaurant name.
